A Beautiful Testimonial — and a Personal Update from Jerusalem

Quick Summary (TL;DR -- Too Long; Didn't Read):

One of my dear students shared a beautiful testimonial about our Torah learning (studying Sofrut) — you can watch it here:

We are now urgently searching for a new home in Jerusalem after 7 years in our current apartment, and I’d be so grateful for any help — whether through a testimonial, booking a session, recommending me, or supporting our moving costs.

Dear Reader,

Summer is here in full force! Jerusalem is sweltering at 40°C (104°F) — though compared to Eilat’s blazing 49°C (120°F), we’re practically in winter!

Before I share a personal update, I want to begin with something uplifting.

A Testimonial That Touched My Heart

One of my dear students, Yitzchak, recently recorded a truly moving testimonial about what he has gained from our Torah learning together. His words were heartfelt, inspiring, and a true Kiddush Hashem.

The wisest of all men, King Shlomo, reminds us:

“Pleasant words are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” (Mishlei 16:24)

The Chafetz Chaim writes (Chovat HaShmirah, Ch. 5) that one who speaks well of another — while guarding against Lashon Hara — earns great merit.

Words of kindness can change lives. They help others discover my work and join the circle of Torah learning and spiritual growth.

If you’ve learned with me, received coaching, or gained something meaningful from our conversations, please consider sharing your own testimonial. Your words could be the key that inspires someone else to join and grow.

Our Current Challenge: Moving Again

After seven years in our Jerusalem apartment, our contract has come to an end — and truthfully, it has been a difficult place to live.

We’ve faced:

  • Noise that made it hard to concentrate on learning and teaching.
  • Mould that destroyed my wife’s clothing, her late grandfather’s paintings, and affected our health.
  • Limited community access, with only one shul nearby that opens on Shabbat and Chagim.

And now, despite having paid for an extra month (with our landlord’s agreement), we have been told we must leave immediately. We’ve had to involve a lawyer, as is unfortunately common when renting in Israel.

Finding a new place is challenging — especially with rental prices up over 20% since our last contract. Actual costs for movers, real-estate agents and other necessary expenditures are beyond believable. It’s a full-time task to search for an apartment that’s near essential amenities, affordable, and large enough to house my essential work tools: my sefarim library. Without them, I cannot teach or prepare properly.

The Dream We Still Hold

When I first arrived in Israel, I dreamed of owning a home that could also serve as a center for Torah learning, and hosting guests — a stable place to teach, learn, and welcome others. A home with light! A home with space and air! Today I would be adding the teaching of Sofrut as part of the program with a possibility of an additional room or two for serious Sofrim to use for their writing.

Back then, apartments in Beitar Illit (where we had settled for some time) were ₪700,000. Today, those same homes sell for 2.5–5 million shekels — a 500% (average) increase. I know that if we cannot find a way to own a place soon, it may become impossible in the future.

In fact, our dream has not ended. We still very much want to make this a reality. If you're serious about joining us as a partner in this or any of our activities, please be in touch and we can let you know more about these projects.

How You Can Help

If my work has touched your life or you wish to help us secure stability so I can continue teaching and guiding others, here are ways you can help:

Every act of kindness makes a difference — whether big or small.

To those who have helped us in the past: thank you. You have been the heroes healing the world.

With love and blessings,

Dear Friends, Purim is just over a week away(!) — and with Adar comes a current of brachah for all of Klal Yisrael. Purim is a day unlike any other! On that day, something remarkable happens. Faces soften. Doors open. Gifts flow. Those who struggle feel seen. Those who give feel lifted. There is simchah not only in receiving — but in enabling. I have often said that Purim should not last only one day. What if we carried that generosity into the entire year? Every year on Purim, we search for...
